Find the Bilingual Angle. If You Can.

I'm still over here somewhere and, consequently, have nothing to say about the kids' German, except that I might be having sleepless nights over it. Or not. It is more likely that I have completely forgotten that I even have kids and am planning on traveling the world. Or something.

But through the miracle of scheduled posts, I can leave you to ponder Punk 1's cat phobia.

Yes, she is scared of cats. Scared out of her pants, really. She's never had a bad experience with one, but she's so scared she generally prefers to not go on play dates just in case there may be a cat in the house.

Unfortunately for her though, her BFF of the moment has not one but two cats, reason enough for Punk 1 to never want to go there. So far, friend E has been understanding of the situation and has been coming over to our place. The two of them have also begun to plan sleep-overs, at our house of course, and are generally excited to spend as much time together as possible. However, E's parents caught her recently trying to drag the cats into the basement. When questioned, she informed them that she was, in fact, training the cats to stay in the basement so Punk 1 could come visit her.

Heh. Five year olds are so cute.

My father-in-law share the same phobia. We have two cats, when he comes I put the cats in my bedroom for the whole time that he's here. He is afraid that the cat would jump in his face ! lol

maybe you could bring her in petshop to look at kitties that are in cages... maybe at long she would be less afraid ?

Hi Mystick,

kitties don't seem to be any less scary than adult cats - though she claims she is no longer afraid at all, now that she's spent a lot of time at her aunt's house who has two cats over the last week.

I'm not sure I believe it just yet, but she talked about it very convincingly, so she's probably right. Which would be nice, 'cause really, skipping out on play dates just because there might be a cat is a bit on the silly side.....
