So I'm running errands with O one day just around his nap time and he says to me:
"Bed!! Bett!"
[Bed]
"Bist Du müde Möchtest Du schlafen gehen?"
[Are you tired Do you want to go to sleep?]
"Mama! Bed!!!"
"Wir sind gleich wieder zu Hause, dann kannst Du ins Bett gehen, okay?"
[We'll be home soon, then you can go to sleep, okay?]
"Noooooooo!!!! Bed!"
Given that he's a toddler and doesn't speak all that clearly just yet, I'm beginning to think that maybe he's hungry and is saying 'bread' instead of 'bed', so I ask him:
"Bist Du müde oder hast Du Hunger? Möchtest Du schlafen oder möchtest Du was essen?"
[Are you tired or are you hungry? Do you want to sleep or do you want to eat?]
"Bed!!! I want bed!!!"
The confusion continues and I ensure him again that we'll be home soon and he can go to sleep. So he looks at me and very clearly says,
"Brot!"
[Bread]
Problem solved :)
